Design Competitions


[ October 2012 ]

Architecture student Teo Wei Ling, won first prize in the BCA-SIA-SGBC INTERNATIONAL TROPICAL ARCHITECTURE DESIGN COMPETITION 2012 FOR INSTITUTES OF HIGHER LEARNING. The theme of the competition is 'Building a Sustainable Community for a Greener Future'. 34 valid entries from countries including China, Malaysia, Indonesia, India and Singapore were received. Submitted entries include Tongji University, National University of Malaysia, Universitas Pelitan Harapan, Pune University, Singapore University of Technology and Design.

NUS MLA students won several prizes in different categories of the SILA (Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects) Student Awards.

DesignREarm, comprising of architecture students Adriel Sim, Ho Li Shan, Joshua Loh, and researchers Sky Lo and Thida Khaw is awarded Winner in the BIM Competition 2012, Education (Architecture) Category.  The participating teams competed with one another on a virtual environment.  The 48-hour online Building Information Modelling (BIM) Competition 2012 (8-10 May 2012) is organized by the Building and Construction Authority, in conjunction with the Singapore Construction Productivity Week.

Two other architecture students, Lau Horng Ee and Wang Yi Chao are members of SDE BIMmers team who won the BIM Competition 2012, Education (Multi-disciplinary) Category.

Loh Kin Kit and Phoaw Yen Shan (BA Arch 2) won the 2012 Berkeley Prize Essay Competition.  Their 2,500-word essay entitled “The Greatest Public Good is Public Space” was selected from a pool of 174 students from 31 countries.  This undergraduate prize was established in the Department of Architecture at the University of California, Berkeley College of Environmental Design to promote the investigation of architecture as a social art.  For more details, click here.
