SECOND-LIFE: A HOME FOR SECOND-HAND GOODS

My thesis is a critique on consumerism – the wasteful ‘buy and throw’ lifestyle it encourages and the subsequent pressure it places on our planet’s natural resources.

An architectural solution lies in imagining the organisational and spatial qualities of a second-hand factory outlet that repurchases, repairs and redistributes old products thereby extending their lifespan and reducing consumer demand for more ‘stuff’.
