TAMING THE RAGING SEA: FROM SALTWATER TO FRESHWATER
Taking the 2007 4th assessment report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as a hypothetical deadline, this project’s goal is to defend Singapore from the projected rise of 88cm in sea level by the year 2100.
Macro and micro site analysis lead to the decision to construct and offshore sea-barrier and desalination plant, thus amalgamating both marine engineering and architecture in the hope of turning the imminent threat of rising sea levels into a national discourse.
