The guest lecture is a retrospective tracing of the socio-geographic conditions that shaped the development of Finnish architectural practice from a tradition of engaging nature to modern interpretations in context. Featuring works that have become representative of Finnish Architecture, the lecture traces the thoughts of the exponents that were most influential in the contextualisation of modern architecture to a coherent body of work that can be identifiable as distinctly Finnish – Deliberated gestures with the most respect for Nature; in the works of Eliel Saarinen, Alvar Aalto, Viljo Revell, Juha Leiviskä, Pekka Helin.
