Special MLA Government Subsidies

The Ministry of Education, Singapore, offers a Service Obligation Scheme. The Service Obligation Scheme was introduced by the Government to subsidise the cost of postgraduate education in Singapore. International students pursuing the MLA programme can take up the Service Obligation Scheme to pay lower subsidised fees at National University of Singapore. In return for the higher Government subsidy, International Students who have opted for the Scheme are required to sign a Service Obligation agreement. They will be contractually obliged to work for Singapore-based companies for 3 years upon graduation.
