Center for Advanced Studies in Architecture (CASA)
The Center for Advanced Studies in Architecture (CASA) is the academic research wing of the Department of Architecture. Its mission is to excel as a regional center for advanced research, training and resource in architectural design, building technology and urban studies, equipping design professionals with knowledge and expertise to meet the challenges of development in the Asia-Pacific region.
CASA administers the funded research projects of the Department and the candidatures of higher degrees by research - MA(Arch), MPhil (ID) and PhD.
CASA also coordinates research publications and conferences organised by the Department. CASA publishes the internationally refereed Journal of South East Asian Architecture (JSEAA) and the document of teaching and research activities at the Department, FOLIO.
Academic staff and research students of the Department are organised into 3 teaching and research groups: Urban Studies, Design Technology and History, Theory and Criticism.
Vision
The Department of Architecture-NUS seeks to be recognized for its design education and design research in Asian Eco-urbanism with an inclusive Social Dimension.
