Digital Design Studio

The Computer Suite is a centralized facility with a full range of computing resources for all students at the Department. The facilities include desktop publishing, image processing, 2D drafting, 3D modeling and animation; the facility is also networked to the rest of the campus and internationally via Internet.

Additional facilities are available at the University's Computer Centre. The Department currently has 7 Digital Design Studios *DDS*. The year 2 open studio area is also outfitted with 80 workstations.

For security and control, all users need a ‘smart card’ to operate an electronic lock to gain access. A full-time Principal System Engineer and 2 Lab Officers support the operations of the Digital Design Studios. The facility is also covered by an extensive hardware and software service contract with the major computer vendors.

*Please note that:
Seng City has discontinued the large format scanning services w.e.f. from
Wednesday November 29 2006. Hence, students would have to approach external vendors if they wish to scan their projects to be kept as part of their portfolio. This would also apply if tutors require students to submit a copy of their work for compilation purposes. Computer Suite would assist the students with the scanning if they are required by the School for academic purposes (such as archival of A scheme projects, exhibition etc).
