Assoc Prof Joseph Lim won the Merit Award
for the Southern Ridges Bridge Design
Competition. His entry defeated amongst others
Arup San Francisco USA, Ty Lin SEA, Tongji
University Design & Research Institute China,
Erdevicki Structural Engineering Canada and
Takenaka Architectural Developers Co Ltd Japan.
65 submissions were received, with 11 from USA,
UK, Japan, S Korea and China. The competition
was organised by Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA),
National Parks Boad (NPB) and Land Transport
Authority (LTA). |

Prof Heng Chye Kiang & Mr Low Boon Liang
was the consultants to the winning entry for the
International Urban Design Competition for
Nanjing Road, Tianjin, China. The project
involved a comprehensive revitalization of 5
kilometers of Nanjing Road (and Qufu Avenue) to
reflect the characteristics of the area in terms
of economy, culture and historical features,
with the aim of projecting the city image of
Tianjin. Participating competitors included ASP
–Albert Speer & Partner (Germany), RHL
Architects (Canada) and China Academy of Urban
Planning & Design. |

Dr Li
Xiaodong & Dr Lim Guan Tiong were
awarded the Best Design Category for 2004 by
EDRA (Environmental Design & Research
Association) Places 2004, Design, Planning &
Research Award. |
