the quality of work produced. Upon scrutiny of
their works, we would like to extend our
heartiest congratulations to the winners of NUS

Architecture 2006 competition. Their citations
are included below.
The two winners will
claim a study visit to Dubai and 4 nights

winners will receive their prizes at the Guest
Lecture by Professor Charles Benton/ Hunter
Douglas Prize Presentation Ceremony on 10
October 2006. Next year's prize destination
will be announced at the event.
Liu Zhenghao ~ Winner, BA (Arch) Category
A work recognized for the excitement it has
evoked through the dreams in its exploration of
the possibility of materials and technology. It
is a very good attempt to break boundaries of
conventions, literally and metaphorically in the
exploration of the surfaces and their
atmospheric effects with light. The work evokes
poetry in its presentation of the process and
the imagery.
Cheng Boon Tiong Raymond ~ Winner, M
(Arch) Category
A work recognized for the
fluid spatial atmosphere it evokes. Through a
careful exploration of technology, movement,
volumes and surfaces, a liquid soft cool space,
something that has not been seen before is
created.
Kho Keguang ~ Merit Prize, BA (Arch) Category
A work of merit recognized for its exceptional
competence in employing technology to realize a
spatial quality. It feels like a very real piece
of work.
Cheryl Lim Zi Ying ~ Merit Prize, BA
(Arch) Category
A work of merit recognized for its very high
degree of detail resolution of technology to
create an atmosphere conducive to its functions.
Chua Kwan Seng Christopher ~Merit Prize, M
(Arch) Category
A work that is highly competent, very robust and
exciting. It displays a certain raw
primitiveness in its explorations of how wooden
technology could frame activities and spatial
qualities.
Poh Choon Hock ~Merit Prize, M (Arch) Category
A work highly commended for its very sensitive
exploration of spatial qualities and
connections. Through appropriate orchestration
of space volumes and levels articulated with
screens, it is able to create the elegant
excitement in moving through the spaces.
We thank all the applicants for their efforts
and look forward to receiving entries
from Architecture and Industrial Design students
at the next round of the competition. |
