Landscape
Architecture (MLA) student Toh Chong Ji
won student design competition for a large
trellis at upper quadrangle of NUS Bukit Timah
Campus. The NUS Faculty of Law is planning to
build a large trellis at the historical Bukit
Timah Campus. NUS Office of Estate & Development
asked the Faculty of Architecture, if our
students could be involved into the design
process and thereupon the idea was born to
announce an official design competition for all
students of landscape architecture at NUS.
The
participating students were expected to propose
suitable designs which reflect the Law School’s
brand essence and at the same time meet the
relevant authorties’ requirements for Addition &
Alterations (A&A) pertaining to a location
gazetted under conservation or preservation. The
winning design shall be implemented in
cooperation with a contractor chosen by the
Office of Estate & Development.

Architecture
PhD student Hafizur Rahaman has been
awarded the
Young CAADRIA Award 2009. The committee has
studied Hafizur's submission on the base of:
Clarity of Concept, Understanding of Context,
Quality of Writing, Strength of Research in CV,
and Applicability to the Wider Architectural
Research. Hafizur have been selected on the
basis of the merits of submission, contribution
and relevance to CAADRIA and demonstrated depth
of research interest. |

Architecture
students Tan Bing Hui and Tan Kok Ming's
entry Fixabottle
won the Special Merit Award in the
Greenwave Environmental Care Project 2008.
Organised by Sembawang Shipyard, this
competition is in its sixth year and a total of
260 entries were received with close to 1000
participants.
